Abstract
Purpose (the aim of the study): Clinical practice guidelines offer conflicting recommendations on the effectiveness of braces in the management of knee osteoarthritis (OA). The effectiveness of knee braces is likely to be influenced by perceived acceptability of the intervention and adherence to brace use. To investigate these issues in depth, we embedded a qualitative study in the PROP-OA multicentre randomised controlled trial. The qualitative study aimed to investigate adherence to trial interventions, and acceptability of brace use and brace adherence support strategies.
